Bella Vista Cross Country... All Your Questions Answered!


Awards Banquet! When: November 30 (Friday) from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Where: Bella Vista High School Library.  Who: All members of the 2007 Bella Vista High School Girls and Boys Cross Country Team and their immediate families.  Menu: Potluck dinner with each athlete (family) bringing a selection from the categories below according to the initial of your last name.  Please bring enough of your food category to serve 8 (eight) people and enough drinks for your family.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL ATHLETES WHO HAVE COMPLETED THEIR SEASON MUST HAVE TURNED IN THEIR UNIFORMS (SHORTS, SINGLET, AND SWEAT OUTFIT) IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THEIR AWARDS.  YOU MAY TURN IN YOUR UNIFORM AT THE LUNCHEON TO COACH FAGUNDES.  PLEASE RETURN THE UNIFORMS CLEAN AND IN A BROWN PAPER BAG WITH YOUR NAME ON IT.

Bret Harte High School Cross Country Invitational – Team Travel and Meet Schedule Information

Saturday (September 22) Bret Harte High School Cross Country Invitational at Calaveras County Fairgrounds (Frog Town) approximately 3.0 miles south of Angel’s Camp (click for map and directions).

Race Schedule

Race No. 08 Freshman Boys Race – 2.0 miles at 12:00 PM
Race No. 09 Freshman Girls Race – 2.0 miles at 12:20 PM
Race No. 10 Sophomore Boys Race – 2.0 miles at 12:40 PM
Race No. 11 Sophomore Girls Race – 2.0 miles at 1:00 PM
Race No. 12 Junior Varsity Girls Race – 2.0 miles at 1:20 PM
Race No. 13 Junior Varsity Boys Race – 2.0 miles at 1:40 PM

Times for Bella Vista High School Athletes to Report and Additional Information

1. All competing athletes should report to the Bella Vista High School parking lot by 8:00 AM to carpool to the meet site at Calaveras County Fairgrounds (Frog Town).  We will leave at 8:15 AM and arrive at the meet site at approximately 10:00 AM.  This will provide the athletes with a minimum of two (2) hours at the meet site before the first race to “walk/jog” the course and recuperate from travelling.

2. Please contact Coach Fagundes at (916) 987-4786 (IRUN) if you need or can provide transportation to the meet site (Calaveras County Fairgrounds [Frog Town]).

3. Be sure to bring: (a) snack or lunch to eat while travelling to the meet; (b) water for hydrating before your race; and (c) money to purchase a snack or lunch after the meet.

Awards

Team – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams for varsity boys and girls.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for all other teams except frosh girls and JV teams.  1st and 2nd place for frosh girls.

Individuals – 1st  through 15th  excluding those on winning teams.  1st through 25th  for individuals on JV boys and girls, no team awards.


Carondelet/De La Salle Nike Invitational – Team Travel and Meet Schedule Information

1. Junior Varsity Girls Race (Unlimited) – 2.0 miles at 8:45 AM
2. Junior Varsity Boys Race (Unlimited) – 2.0 miles at 9:10 AM
3. Frosh/Soph Girls Race (Unlimited) – 2.0 miles at 9:35 AM
4. Frosh/Soph Boys (Top 7) - 2.0 miles at 10:00 AM
5. Junior Varsity Boys (Unlimited) – 2.0 miles at 10:25 AM
6. Frosh/Soph Boys (Unlimited) – 2.0 miles at 10:50 AM
7. Varsity Girls Race (Top 7) – 3.0 miles at 11:15 AM

(Note: Bella Vista High School athletes will only be competing in Race #3 - Frosh/Soph Girls (Unlimited), Race #4 - Frosh/Soph Boys (Top 7), Race #6 - Frosh/Soph Boys (Unlimited), Race #7 – Varsity Girls Race (Top 7), and Race #8 – Varsity Boys Race (Top 7) (Note: If the total number of frosh/soph boys participating exceeds seven [7], then the additional frosh/soph boys compete in Race #6 – Frosh/Soph Boys [Unlimited]).

Saturday (September 08) Lagoon Valley Classic Cross Country Invitational (sponsored by Vacaville High School) at Lagoon Valley Regional Park (Vacaville, CA):

1. Freshman Boys Race  – 2.0 miles at 9:40 AM
2. Frosh/Soph Girls Race – 2.0 miles at 10:05 AM
3. Frosh/Soph Boys Race – 2.0 miles at 10:30 AM
5. Varsity Girls Race - 3.0 miles at 10:55 AM
6. Varsity Boys Race - 3.0 miles at 11:25 AM
7. Junior Varsity Girls Race – 2.0 miles at 11:55 AM
8. Junior Varsity Boys Race – 2.0 miles at 12:20 PM

A map to Lagoon Valley Regional Park (Vacaville, CA) is available at our website at http://www.bvtrack.com/ and will be provided to the drivers at the Bella Vista High School parking lot on Saturday morning.

2. If you need or can provide transportation to the meet site (Lagoon Valley Park [Vacaville]), we will be meeting at the Bella Vista High School parking lot at 6:15 AM to car-pool.  Please contact Coach Fagundes at (916) 987-4786 (IRUN) if you need or can provide transportation to the meet site.

Parent Information Meeting:  The Bella Vista Cross Country team will be having a parent information meeting on Tuesday, September 4 at 7:00 pm in the Bella Vista girls PE annex.  We will be covering booster clubs, summer camp and training clinic, team rules and uniforms, athlete incentive program, transportation, Bronco Cross Country Invitational and much more.  Please find a place in your schedule to attend this important meeting.


Cross Country Practice Schedule for Thursday, August 16 through Friday August 24:

August 16 (Thursday) and August 17 (Friday) - Meet at the Shadow Glen Riding Stables (near the intersection of Main and Sunset Avenues) at 7:30 AM .
 
August 20 (Monday) through Friday (August 24) - After school practice begins at 3:05 PM up at the Bella Vista HS "all-weather' track near the snack bar. You need to have turned in your physical form and packet to the attendance office and received your "yellow" clearance slip in order to practice with the team. Come with your "yellow" clearance slip and ready to run.

BV Team Physicals:  Physicals will be available on Wednesday, July 18 starting at 6:00 pm in the small gym.  The cost will be $20.00 and the 1st 150 students are guaranteed a physical so arrive on time!  If you do not take advantage of these physicals you will need to get one from your own doctor.  Clearance packets are also be available in the main office.  Student athletes will need to pick up, complete, and return a clearance packet back to the main office before they will be aloud to practice.
