*National Federation records are records set within the official National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) season where the athlete or relay team is representing the high school that they attend. The NFHS outdoor season varies depending on the state federation. In California it usually begins sometime in late February and ends at the conclusion of the CIF State Finals. The Track and Field News records are set within a season that goes through August 31 of the athlete's senior year meaning they don't necessarily have to be representing their high school to achieve a national record.
