from Steve Fagundes and Dave Unterholzer

The 1999 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)/Sac-Joaquin Section (Section) Cross Country Championships were held at Sierra College (Rocklin) on November 12. Under slightly warm conditions for this time of year (clear skies and temperatures in the 70-80 degree Fahrenheit range), the top harriers in the Section competed on the challenging three mile course to earn spots at the CIF State Cross Country Championships (CIF State Championships). The CIF State Championships are scheduled for Woodward Park (Fresno) on, Saturday, November 27. In order to qualify to the CIF State Championships in each division, athletes must either be a member of the top two (2) teams or be one (1) of the top five (5) individuals not members of those top two (2) teams and finish in the top twelve (12) overall in their respective races.
