Cross Country Awards Banquet Highlights

On Wednesday, December 2 the BV library was standing room only for the 2003 Cross Country Awards Banquet.  Here are some of the highlights:

Greg Imamura's core team won this years contest.  Greg's team included Fernando Ayala, Shea Benton, Nicole Freeman, Patrick Krage, Davis Green, and Carissa Terry.  Each won a gift certificate to Fleet Feet.  Both of the girls teams (varsity and frosh/soph) received t-shirts for winning league championships this season.  In the most improved category Christine Sathre won for the girls and Paul Simpson for the boys.  The Most Valuable Athlete trophy went to Chris Reilly for the boys and both Nicole Freeman and Krystal Buck for the girls.  For the Frosh/Soph division Most Outstanding awards went to Lauren Hoffman and Ben Lehmann both freshmen and for the Varsity division Greg Imamura and Tara Harmon took home the honors.  Senior awards (a plaque given to those athletes who have successfully completed four years of cross country at BV) were given out to Jennifer Richardson and Collette Anderson.  All in all what a great year!  Everyone worked hard and it paid off.  With a little bit of down time to rest before track (even though I am already preparing for the track and field season!) here's hoping all a happy holidays!  Hope to see all the cross country runners during the track season!  U

Sac Joaquin Subsection Information: As always we will need parents to help drive.  Each athlete will need to be at the course no later than two (2) hours before their race time.  Try to gauge your travel time to arrive at this time (it will be different for each division - Varsity, Frosh/Soph etc.).  Example - Our freshmen boys run at 9:30 am and should arrive at the course at around 7:30 am, the frosh/soph girls run at 10:00 am and should arrive at 8:00 am etc.  The general travel rule is a runner needs to be out of the car and at the race site before a race for as long as the runner is in the car traveling to the meet.  It takes about a hour and 45 minutes to get to the course.  It is also better that runners not drive themselves.  Saturdays meet schedule is posted below (Bella Vista is a Division 2 school):
